Established in 1983 The Oriental Rug Shop has become the largest retailer of quality Persian and Afghan carpets and rugs in the south of England.

From our base in the old High Street in Royal Tunbridge Wells, UK we have approximately 1,000 individually selected Oriental rugs, Persian rugs and Afghan rugs and carpets ranging from small ultra fine silks to rustic, character tribal rugs, as well as a massive selection of magnificent country house carpets in some of the largest sizes produced.

Arrangements can be made for clients to view all of our Oriental rugs, Persian rugs and Afghan rugs and carpets“in situ”, and we also have a cleaning and repair service. However, we are so confident of the quality and durability of our classic Oriental rugs, Persian rugs and Afghan rugs and carpets that we are prepared to offer back the full price paid in an exchange against any future purchase*.

One of the reasons that the highest quality rugs come from Persia is that there is the greatest diversity of origins each with their own unique style, patterns and colours. The purpose of this site, therefore, is not only to show off a small selection from our stock, but to convey some background information on the major origins of manufacture.
