This fine large Afghan Mauri carpet has an impressive 210 knots per square

inch; it has a fine, thin woollen pile handknotted onto a cotton double weft

foundation. This example features the Bokhara design - a famous design descended

from the rugs of the Tekke tribe of Turkestan.

Afghan carpets of this quality and size (particularly in this instance) are rare - as

they take a long time to make and not many are produced.
