Semi Antique Afghan Chakesh carpet, approximately 40-50 years old. This old handmade Afghan Chakesh carpet is in superb condition for its age, and the woollen pile has a superb patina. It has an attractive orangey-red principle colour with an abundance of abrash (colour change) flowing throughout the carpet - implying the use of natural dyes. Often in a village or tribal scenario smaller batches of wool are dyed, and as the carpet is woven this causes the effect of slightly different bands of colour in the finished product. This effect is even replicated in modern machine made copies to make them look more authentic! 4.02x3.13m (13'2"x10'3") the length including the kelim ends is: 4.12m (or 13'6") £3850 Closing Down SALE 40% OFF NOW: £2310
