This rug comes from the town of Gholtog (Qoltuq) which is located in the

Kurdish region between Bidjar and Zanjan, in N.W. Persia.

In terms of weave Gholtog rugs are akin to Bidjars i.e. thick woollen pile

combined with a relatively ridged fine construction. Like Bidjars, Gholtog

rugs are extremely tough.
