| Village Persian Rugs Abadeh |
|
The village of Abadeh is situated between Isfahan and Shiraz. Rug weaving has only been in existence in Abadeh for around 100 years, and as a result the rugs of Abadeh are influenced by the designs of the Qashqai tribe. In fact, some sources believe that given it's geographical location the people of Abadeh are descended from the Qashqai. For about 50 years, Abadeh rugs have been woven with a cotton warp and weft with a Persian knot. Although the designs used by Abadeh are generally conservative there is a strong Qashqai influence, with a small Qashqai style central medallion that is repeated in the corners. The colours used are typically vibrant reds and blues, whilst there are occasional cream ground examples with terracotta. By village standards these rugs are of a fine quality made with excellent wool, and as a result Abadeh rugs are a very durable quality.
