To prevent rug slipping on a hard floor (i.e. wood, laminates, stone, tiles, etc)

and to increase the longevity of the rug, The Oriental Rug Shop recommends Anglo Silver Rug Underlay - a felt & rubber combination Underlay.

The natural cushion of the felt irons-out any imperfections in the floor underneath thereby preventing uneven wear, and makes your rug feel even more luxurious “under foot”. The rubber base grips the floor – preventing the rug from slipping. This needs to be under the entirety of the rug to work effectively, but should be cut an inch in all-round from the edge of the rug.
