Geometric Rugs
Discover an intriguing selection of handcrafted Geometric Rugs from Afghanistan and Persia.
Village Rugs
Village Rugs are created in the villages of Persia (Iran) & Afghanistan in more rural locations. These Geometric Rugs are woven on a vertical loom. In fact, lower knot density creates a geometric design format.
Persian Village Rugs are usually woven by copying Wagirehs (small sample rugs). The structure of Village Rugs is wool hand-knotted onto cotton.
Nomadic Persian Rugs
Nomadic Persian Rugs are woven by either nomadic pastoralists or semi-settled tribes people. This represents the simplest and earliest form of weaving. Their looms are horizontal and portable.
Nomadic Rugs (Tribal Rugs) also feature a geometric design featuring ancient motifs that have been passed down through the generations.
Nomadic Rugs (Tribal Rugs) have a wool pile hand-knotted onto wool warp threads (whilst settled nomads might use wool-on-cotton).
