Daghestan Rugs were made in close proximity to Kuba and Shirvan Rugs in the Eastern Caucasus. Of this group, Daghestan were made further-est north. As this region is small, these rugs share characteristics in design and weave.
Daghestan Rugs often have all over small scale repeating patterns, sometimes in a lattice formation (as can be seen in this piece). These patterns were easily adaptable for Prayer Rug formats. Blue, yellow and cream backgrounds are typical.
