The Beni Ourain are a tribe from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
Beni Ourain Rugs are popular for their natural look and lack of colour, as well as for their simple but highly unique and imaginative geometric designs. Generally these rugs are cream/off-white with brown or black angular patterns.
These Rugs functioned originally as blankets to combat the extreme climatic conditions of the mountain environment. These were made by the tribes in long narrow proportions (i.e. 3.00×1.50m/10’x5′). Proper Beni Ourain Rugs are seldom wider than 2.14m/7ft.
Berber Rugs are light wearing; ideal for Bedroom and Sitting Room locations. Not suitable for hard wear areas. Consider using an Underlay for use on hard floors (i.e. wood, tiles, etc).
