Labijar is a very old settlement located south of Sheberghan in north Afghanistan. The Labijar kilim rugs produced here have a longstanding reputation for being of good quality.
The wonderful jolly colours show very gentle and delicate variations of shade.
These Afghan Labijar Kilim Rugs consists of wool and are a handmade flat-woven rugs, i.e. a rug without pile. The weft coloured weft threads are woven in blocks which creates the pattern.
One of the many benefits of this type of kilim is that because of the way it is constructed it is the same on both sides, meaning that it can be used either way up.
For use on a hard floor (wood, tiles, etc) or on carpet Underlay is recommended to prevent slippage.
