Size: 1.56×0.93m / 5’2″x3’1″ Thickness: 6mm

Origin: Afghanistan.

Technique: Hand-knotted.

Material: Wool pile, knotted onto cotton warps.

Colours and Design: This fine Afghan Kazak rug has a blue field with beige border, as well as numerous other shades such as rust-red, pink olive and gold. It has a classic geometric design showing a three medallion theme.

Condition/Age: It has a slight blemish – which isn’t that noticeable (captured in image 7) – hence the reduction. It is newly made.

Afghan Kazak Rugs are inspired by Nineteenth Century Caucasian Kazak Rugs.

Antique Caucasian Rugs have for many years been the domain of collectors due to their striking geometric motifs and eye-catching colours.

The Afghan Kazak Rugs represent an endeavour to recreate this type of appealing rug, but ensuring a functional and serviceable rug. These finely woven rugs have a thin, closely sheered woollen pile that creates a high definition appearance.

The knotting is fine and small. The pile is sheered short which enhances the definition of the pattern.

The colours are breathtaking: sharper and brighter than our standard quality. Besides that, the variety of designs is much wider.
