Additional Information:
Gabbeh Nomad Rugs are tribal rugs handmade on horizontal looms by tribeswomen (frequently by Qashqai or Luri) for the weavers own domestic use.
In many ways these are the most interesting of all tribal Rugs. The Gabbeh Nomad Rugs are unique, characterful and often quirky, one-of-a-kind rugs. These rugs have ancient patterns which can sometimes appear to be contemporary in style.
These Gabbeh Nomad Rugs have a hand-knotted wool pile, knotted onto either wool warps or warps consisting of animal hair (sometimes even cotton warps).
The nature of this type of Gabbeh Rug is highly individual, as a result knot density and pile thickness varies from rug to rug.
