Additional Information:
At The Oriental Rug Merchant we are always on the look-out for interesting antique and old rugs. Often these are either no longer made in these places, or the carpet weaving has evolved into a more market-reactive enterprise. To preserve them for their next custodian, we always expertly wash the rugs that we discover and where possible/or financially viable repair them.
These rugs often look “at home” in period properties (almost like they have always been there), but conversely can be a spectacular statement piece in an ultra modern setting.
We recommend using a rug underlay under these rugs if using on hard flooring or carpeted floor. We stock a variety of rug underlay options to suit most situations.
Yahyali rugs are produced in a small area south of Kayseri in central Turkey. These rugs are handwoven with hand-knotted wool pile knotted onto woollen warps. The traditional colours are red, blue, and brown along with numerous other detail shades made from vegetal dyes.
