Material: Silk with silk warps.
Colours and Design: This Persian Silk Soumak Rug has an attractive light colour scheme of beige with red and orange as well as additional touches of black, pink and apricot. The design of this Silk Soumak Rug is geometric and it is profusely decorated with small animal and plant motifs.
Condition/Age: As New.

Soumak is a type of flat-weave. Soumaks have a flat front face and a ragged back. As a flat-weave Soumak Rugs are generally more intricate than the slit-weave Kilim Rugs.
The technique involves wrapping coloured weft threads over and under the warp threads, adding strength and embroidery-like pattern.
For use on a hard floor (wood, tiles, etc) or on carpet Underlay is recommended to prevent slippage.
