Title: Very fine Red Belouch mat
Size: 46×86cm /1’6″x2’10″ Thickness: 6mm
Origin: West Afghanistan, vicinity of Herat.
Technique: Hand-knotted.
Material: Wool pile, knotted onto wool warps.
Colours and Design: This very fine Afghan Belouch mat has a rich red ground with additional shades of brown, cream, orange, dark green and midnight. It has a geometric all over Bokhara / Yamoud design of 12 guls.
Condition/Age: Full pile. Tiny repair (see image 6). Up to 20 years old.
