Title: Vintage Belouch rug

Size: 1.85×0.99m / 6’1″x3’3″ Thickness: 6mm 

Origin: Belouch.

Technique: Hand-knotted.

Material: Wool pile, wool warps.

Colours and Design: This vintage Belouch rug has a charming, archaic tree of life design on a cinnamon brown field. Additional detail colours include orange, red, blue, brown and cream. 

Condition/Age: It’s in good order with short pile. It has been washed. 30/40 years old.  

Additional Information:

In appearance, Belouch Rugs can have a rather dark or sombre appearance. The designs produced are numerous. Each one is unique; these are truely fascinating rugs!

As well as rugs, the Belouch weavers are prolific makers of Prayer Rugs, khorjins (saddle-bags), namakdans (salts bags), chanteh (small bags) and other tribal trappings.

Belouch Rugs tend to be light in weight, thin in pile and flexible – after-all Belouch Rugs are essentially nomadic rugs so therefore are made to be portable.
