Size: 2.44×1.80m / 8’0″x5’11″ Thickness: 7mm

Origin: Afghanistan.

Technique: Hand-knotted.

Material: Wool pile, cotton warp and weft. It has beautifully finished ends with colourful wrapped fringes.

Colours and Design: Turquoise with beige, and additional shades of blue, gold, rust, green and brown. It has a geometric panel design or Garden design – consisting of 48 gardens/panels.
This is a modern Afghan interpretation of this classic pattern. Each panel represents a garden. These gardens are set against a green background. This uncluttered version is a highly successful adaptation of an ancient Oriental/Persian pattern. The attractive colours with clear space around each “garden” achieves a more contemporary appearance.

This Aryana-Bakhtiari Carpet is from a very small production in Afghanistan, handcrafted by highly skilled weavers. 

This is a stylish handcrafted Afghan adaptation of the iconic “Garden” design. This was a pattern made famous by the Bakhtiar tribe of Iran. The Afghan weavers have ingeniously and successfully modernised the garden pattern by simplifying it. 

The pile is hand-knotted and made from hand-spun wool. The dyes are natural. It is a wonderful hard wearing quality.

The design is clearly inspired by ancient Persian Rugs.
