Technique: Hand-knotted. 

Material: Wool pile, wool warps.

Colours and Design: This Afghan Khyber carpet has eye-catching colours featuring a red medallion on an green ground surrounded by a meandering (chevron and zigzag) main border. 

Condition/Age: Short pile. New.

Our Khyber rugs are a new type of Afghan rug that we recently discovered.

They feature funky vibrant colours combined with mostly traditional old designs. These Khyber rugs have a chunky,  rustic (fairly loose weave) hand-knotted wool pile knotted onto woollen warps. As you can see from the pictures, there’s numerous variations of shade within each colour group. 

We recommend using an underlay with these rugs. We stock a range of quality rug underlays for use on hard floors as well as fitted carpets.
