Technique: Hand-knotted.
Material: Wool pile, wool warps.
Colours and Design: This antique Kurdish runner has superb mature colours. These shades include a dark blue-black/midnight field colour, rust inner border, cream main border and blue outer border as well as detail shades of rust, cream, light blue, green and gold. The geometric design is spectacular and features a field charmingly decorated with two columns of Boteh / paisley motifs.
Condition/Age: This antique runner has all over, fairly evenly worn pile which is attractively down to the knots – commensurate with its age. The ends have been marginally reduced and secured and the sides have been rebound. It has been recently washed and is ready for immediate use.
It dates from the early Twentieth century; circa 1920s.
