Size: 3.58×2.79m / 11’9″x8’11″ Thickness: 8mm

Origin: Afghanistan.

Technique: Hand-knotted.

Material: Wool pile, knotted onto cotton warps and weft.

Colours and Design: It has a colourful rust-terracotta field with cream border along with detailing in ochre-orange, green and navy blue. The design is floral and in an all-over format rather like Sultanabad carpets.  

Condition/Age: New.

This is a modern type of Afghan Turkmen carpet featuring age-old patterns.

The Turkmen people from Northern Afghanistan are originally from central Asia, mainly from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and they traditionally made rugs for their own nomadic purposes.

These newly made traditional design rugs are recreating ancient tribal designs and are made by traditional methods consisting of a hand-knotted wool pile knotted onto cotton or woollen warps. The wool is hand-spun and made with vegetable dyes.
