Material: Wool pile, knotted onto cotton warps.
Colours and Design: This Turkoman mat has primary colours of cream and orange along with details of grey-blue and blue-black. The design is geometric with a triple medallion set on a cream field.
Condition/Age: Full pile. Approx 10/20 years old.
Additional Information:
Turkoman Carpets are hand-knotted onto horizontal looms. The pile is made of wool, warps either wool or cotton. The carpets are made in the home rather than a factory/workshop setting.
The designs of Turkoman Rugs feature all over, repeating ancient motifs known a guls (flower). These patterns are distinctive to Turkoman tribes – especially the Tekke and Yamoud tribes.
