Title: Vintage Azilal Rug

Size: 2.30×1.40m / 7’7″x4’7″

Origin: Morocco.

Technique: Hand-knotted.

Material: Wool pile, cotton warp (fringe at one end, the other end is flat woven) and wool wefts.

Colours and Design: This vintage Azilal rug features an off-white background with black lattice overlay along with flashes of pink zigzag side borders. 

Condition/Age: It has full pile. It’s in the region of 20 years old.

Additional Information:

Azilal rugs have been known to be exhibited as works of art in galleries as their abstract design and geometric symbols are much admired. As with all tribal rugs: symbols, pattern and ideas are passed down from generation to generation continue.

Just as with our collection of Moroccan rugs originally were for the home and these particularly provided warmth against harsh nights combined with artistry and weaver’s imagination and skill.

The Azilal rugs as their name implies originate from the high up craggy remote Azilal region in the Atlas Mountains. They possess great amounts of creative design and a wonderful discovery to complete our Moroccan rug collection.

Berber Rugs are light wearing; ideal for Bedroom and Sitting Room locations. Not suitable for hard wear areas. Consider using an Underlay for use on hard floors (i.e. wood, tiles, etc).
