Technique: Handwoven. Kilim of slit-weave construction.

Material: Wool, woven onto wool warps.

Colours and Design: Multi-colour (Vegetable Dyes) with attractive colours including a main shade of green-grey, with blue, fawn and cream. This Large Afghan Veg Dye Kilim has a traditional all over design geometric pattern featuring a theme of 15 gul motifs.

This Veg Dye Afghan Kilim rug is outstanding value! The wonderful jolly colours show very gentle and delicate variations of shade.

This Afghan Kilim consists of wool and is a handmade flat-weave, i.e. a rug without pile.  The weft coloured weft threads are woven in blocks which creates the pattern, and where two colours meet there is a tiny gap – hence the term slit weave.

One of the many benefits of this type of kilim is that because of the way it is constructed it is the same on both sides, meaning that it can be used either way up.

For use on a hard floor (wood, tiles, etc) or on carpet Underlay is recommended to prevent slippage.
