Origin: Afghanistan.

Technique: Hand-knotted. 

Material: Wool pile, knotted onto cotton warps. 

Colours and Design: This Suzani design carpet has a green field with multi-colour floral pattern and a wide terracotta/rust colour border. This elegant design is based on an Uzbek Suzani fabric pattern.  

Condition/Age: New.

This handmade carpet is from a small production expertly handwoven in Afghanistan.

The design is loosely based upon that of an Uzbek “Suzani”. A Suzani is a type of tribal embroidered weaving made of cotton or silk needled onto a fabric base (of either cotton or silk). In yesteryear these were made as part of the dowry to be presented to the groom. Typically the patterns were floral. 

The pile is hand-knotted and made from hand-spun wool. The dyes are natural. It is a wonderful hard wearing quality that will stand the test of time.
