Additional Information:
This is a modern type of Afghan Rug featuring age-old patterns of the Ersari Turkoman tribe. The Ersari are a tribe of Turkoman people from central Asia, mainly from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, that traditionally made rugs for their own nomadic purposes.
These modern Ersari Rugs are made by traditional methods consisting of a hand-knotted wool pile knotted onto cotton or woollen warps. The wool is hand-spun and made with vegetable dyes.
Often these Rugs have all over repeating patterns with such designs as the classic Fil Pai (Elephant’s foot motif), Tekke gul (Bokhara), as well as Prayer Rug and Purdah themes.
Ersari Rugs generally have a light but cosy colour palette. These rugs use an orangey-red, terracotta, or browny-red as the main feature colour with exciting complimentary additional tones. These often include blue, green, orange and beige.
